Romans 5.7-8 (More On “But God”)
Romans 5:7-8
“For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
A phrase you often hear in the Bible. Blah, blah, blah… “but God”. When I look at my life and my plans all built around my hopes and dreams all arranged on my terms the phrase “But God” has often made me worry. “Whats the big guy going to take from me now?” Or when I get Godly advice from a friend it is always, “Sounds great, Anthony, but God says…”
Ugh, just let me be! Let me have my hopes and plans the way I want them. Thank God He does not do this. Thanks God He does not even flinch at stopping even my best laid plans. I particularly hate -yes hate, to be told “no”. But there is really only one “no” I am ultimately worried about. That is at the gates of Heaven. So I try to wear my plans a little looser knowing that: “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” Proverbs 16.9
