“Put your trust in the Lord” Psalm 4:5

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God” Psalm 20.7
Some trust in might, power, armament, or in being in a safe country.

“He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage” Proverbs 11.28
This is one that is hard for me. I always feel that more money will solve my problems. The reality and fear of it is buried deep in my psyche (heart). It struggles and fights with the reality of simply trusting God and resting in His provision alone.

“He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered. He who trusts in his own heart (feelings) is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered” Proverbs 28.25,26
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” Proverbs 3.5,6

Personally I find it hard to trust God in this way because I am not sure that God’s will is to give me what I want. I want to cut my own way. I am actually afraid of the decisions that God may make for me. In this way I am afraid of God. “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” 1john 4.18. This verse displays how I am neither Loving God as He should be loved nor am I accepting His Love fully in my life. My resistance to all the verses above in trusting and loving other things rather than God is preventing a deeper and fuller relationship with the only One who really Loves me.

I will try harder to pray and not worry.
I will try harder to trust and not doubt.
